In the January-March 2018 period, the Republic of Serbia continued extending humanitarian assistance to a large number of migrants, without ascertaining in each individual case whether they were in need of international protection or issuing individual decisions determining their status. The most important novelty in the first quarter of 2018 in the field of migration management was the adoption of new laws – the Law on Asylum and Temporary Protection, the Law on Foreigners and the Law on Border Control. The BCHR composed the quarterly report which comprised an analysis of the practices of the competent authorities and the developments in the field of refugee law in Serbia in the first three months of 2018, based on information that BCHR Team collected in the field and whilst representing asylum seekers, as well as on the information it obtained from the Belgrade Office of the UNHCR.
