According to the UNHCR estimates, the number of refugees and migrants in Serbia decreased slightly during November and amounted to about 4,300 persons of concern, of which about 3,950 were located in state asylum centers and reception centers. Most of the refugees and migrants were accommodated in reception centers in Obrenovac (871), Adasevci (357) and Presevo (231) and the Center for Asylum in Krnjaca (721), while the least stayed in the asylum center in Tutin and reception centers in Bosilegrad, Dimitrovgrad and Subotica.
During November, most intentions for seeking asylum were expressed in police stations (532). There were also 13 intentions expressed at the airport and 3 in the reception center in Preševo.
During November, 549 individuals expressed the intent to seek asylum in Serbia, and the majority of them were from Afghanistan (144), Iran (122), Pakistan (115) and Iraq (113). Individuals from Algeria, Azerbaijan, Egypt, India, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Libya, Macedonia, Morocco, Nigeria, Palestine, Russia, Sierra Leone and Syria also expressed the intent to seek asylum. Out of the total number of asylum seekers, 430 were males and 119 females. Also, the intention to seek asylum was expressed by 173 children, out of which 10 were unaccompanied or separated.
In accordance with article 24 of the Law on Asylum, 21 asylum seekers were registered in November, at which time their identity was determined, while also getting photographed and having their fingerprints taken. 15 asylum applications were submitted, while the Asylum Office conducted nine interviews in the asylum procedure.
In regard to first instance decisions in the asylum procedure, the Asylum Office made no positive decisions in November. Three applications were refused and one was rejected.
