In the April-June 2018 period, the Republic of Serbia continued extending humanitarian assistance to a large number of migrants, without ascertaining in each individual case whether they were in need of international protection or issuing individual decisions determining their status. Following the adoption of the new Law on Asylum and Temporary Protection in the previous trimester, the application of the law commenced during the reporting period. The BCHR composed the quarterly report which comprised an analysis of the practices of the competent authorities and the developments in the field of refugee law in Serbia in the second quarter of 2018, based on information that BCHR team collected in the field and whilst representing asylum seekers, as well as on the information it obtained from the Belgrade Office of the UNHCR.
