The Belgrade Center for Human Rights team has compiled a report on the right to asylum in the Republic of Serbia, covering the period from July to September 2020. The authors analyzed the access of asylum seekers to asylum procedure during the reporting period, with special focus to the analysis of competent authorities’ decisions. Also, the report refers to the main challenges in exercising the rights of asylum seekers and refugees when it comes to integration into Serbian society.
In this regard, the authors tried to point out examples of good practice, but also certain shortcomings in the relevant regulations and in the competent authorities’ work. The goal of such an approach is to develop a more functional asylum system in the Republic of Serbia. Hence, the BCHR team offered recommendations for improving existing solutions.
